Perpetual Supplica
THESE PRAYERS ARE SAID EACH MIDNIGHT
IN FRONT OF THE BASILICA OF SANTA MARIA MAGGIORE AT ROME
This devotion is inspired by the request made by Our Lady Herself in
Bl. Anne Catherine Emmerich’s Vision of
August 25, 1822: “I know not now how I went to Rome last night, but I found myself near the church of Santa Maria Maggiore. Around it I saw crowds of poor, pious souls, in great distress and anxiety on account of the Pope’s disappearance and the agitation and alarming reports throughout the city. Led by one common impulse, they had come to invoke the Mother of God. They did not expect to find the church open, they intended only to pray outside. But I was inside, I opened the door and they entered, astounded at the door’s opening of itself. I was standing aloof where they could not see me. There was no service, only the chancel-lamps were burning, and the people knelt in quiet prayer. Then the Mother of God appeared. She said that great tribulations were at hand; that the people must pray earnestly with extended arms, if only for the length of three Our Fathers, for it was thus that her Son had prayed for them upon the Cross; that they should rise at midnight to pray thus; that they should continue to come to Her church which they would always find open; and that they should, above all, pray for the extirpation of the Church of Darkness. … I know not whether the people saw the apparition or not, but they must have been impressed by something supernatural for, when the Blessed Virgin said they should pray to God with arms extended, all lifted up their arms … It seemed to be an association of prayer.” From this time Sister Emmerich assisted nightly at the pious exercises at Santa Maria Maggiore. Only the one who holds the Petrine Munus can confirm the Bishops in the Faith
by Br. Alexis Bugnolo
One of the primary and constant themes of the preaching of Our Lord Jesus Christ was that we should judge things according to the truth. And the truth regards not only what can be seen, but what cannot be seen, but inferred from looking at the facts with faith.
And He put us to the extreme test by what He did and suffered. Because if you only allowed yourself to be amazed at His miracles and to admire His teaching, His Passion was so much the utter contradiction of worldly logic, that mere human admiration would be shattered.
The other extreme test He put us to was to have faith that He was the Bread of Life come down from Heaven, and thus that He is truly, really and substantially there in the Blessed Sacrament. The eyes see bread and wine, but with faith, they see the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Many ask me what is going on in the Church right now, and I have written an essay about this before. But now I want to approach the same problem from a different point of view.
The Vicar of the Christ Who ascended into Heaven
When Christ was about to ascend into Heaven, He said some truly marvelous words: All power in Heaven and Earth has been given to Me (Matthew 28:18 according to the Vulgate). This passage is often translated with the word, “authority”, not “power”, which if understood badly, as it often is, is understood to refer only to legal authority. But the Greek says, πᾶσα ἐξουσία, means the power to act. It is not just the right to act.
These words are tremendous because of their implication. Christ Our Lord, is not only God, but wields the Divine Power in all its fullness even as Man.
The import for us is that this God become Man is the author of the office of Saint Peter. Peter is not just the Vicar of Christ on earth. Peter is the Vicar of the Christ Who ascended into Heaven and wields all power to act, in Heaven and Earth.
This can be seen in the history of the Church. We Roman Catholics often boast about the Roman Church being superior to the other Apostolic Churches or more fecund in spreading the faith or having saints. We speak often as if this is because of the superiority of Western Civilization or of the Roman Culture, legal system, or philosophical or theological sciences in the West.
The Vicar of the Christ with all power to act
But the mystical truth is quiet other. It is not us, nor the work of our hands, it is the Office of Peter. For the Successors of Saint Peter hold the office of the Vicar of Christ. and not only of any Christ, but of Christ with all the power to act.
The man who in truth has this office, by his mere existence and our communion, with him, merits for us grace to act. He does not merit this by being a good pope or a bad pope, though if he be a good pope he manifests this more. No he merits it in a higher sense, because the Office of St. Peter has this instrumentality in the order of grace by its very nature as the Vicarship or Vice-Roy of Christ Jesus, Who has all power to act.
In this way, the last words of Our Lord on Earth, were a profound catechesis on the the nature of the Church and the order of grace. Our Lord was promising, by these words, that those who remained in communion with His Vicar, Saint Peter and his successors, would have the grace to accomplish His Final and Greatest Commandment: Go make disciples of every nation, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all the things which I commanded you!
The Petrine munus cannot be hidden
It follows then, that you cannot hide the effects of the Papal Office. You cannot bury them in your sins or wipe out its force by your personal defects. It exists and is empowered on a divine level, the human cannot overwhelm it. This is because as Vicar of the One who has all power to act, there is no greater instrument in all the cosmos to mediate that active power, than the Office of Peter.
And thus, all of us who are in communion with the true Successor of Saint Peter will have the graces to accomplish the will of God, not because we merit it for our personal good works, but because we obtain it by being in and remaining in communion with the Vicar of Our Lord and Savior.
Likewise, if you are not the true successor of Saint Peter you cannot hide it. It will be evident in the immorality, blasphemies, idolatries, loss of faith, loss of every virtue and finally total abandonment of the divine ministry. You can see that in the cult of Palmar, Spain, who claim to have the true pope, but whose popes leave office and marry women.
Interpret the signs of the times!
Likewise, if the man you follow as Pope is ordering you not to be a Bishop, not to be a priest, not to believe, not to pray, not to frequent the sacraments, not to have devotion, not to practice virtue, not to be chaste, not the resist the world, the flesh or the devil, in short, not to be a Christian…
Then I say you need to discern the signs of the times. Christ Jesus did not say, All power to not act in Heaven and Earth has been given to Me.
Thus, the conclusion is inescapable. You’re mistaken. The one you think has the petrine munus, does not have it, because if he did, he would have the power to act and communicate this power to all the Bishops and clergy in communion with him. But it has been 7 years that he and they have been in formal schism with the one who does have that power, and now, their spiritual batteries have run down, and are dead. And the lights of the Church, that is the Sacraments, have gone out.

How to celebrate Holy Week in the Catacombs
by Br. Alexis Bugnolo
A large part of the Catholic world will be deprived of the sacred celebrations of Holy Week, this year, due to the lack of courage and zeal of many clergy in the face of COVID-19. I have previously given my opinion about how ceremonies can still be conducted with the faithful, so I will omit repeating myself here.
Instead, I would offer here some suggestions about how to commemorate the Passion and Death of Our Lord for those who are shut out of Church, and find themselves, in a certain sort of way, like hermits in a hermitage without a priest, who have no opportunity for the Sacraments.
First of all, I recommend reciting the entire Divine Office for Holy Week, beginning with Vespers for Palm Sunday. You can find these in the original Latin, with translations in English, French, German, Italian, Magyar, Portuguese, and Polish, at DivinumOfficium.com. This is a wonderful site, already used by many clergy, since it has the texts in a format adapt to desk top computers, mobile devices, tablets, etc., and allows you the option of choosing any one of the approved texts from the time of the Council of Trent to the reforms of 1962.
Second, I recommend taking the time you have, quarantined in your homes, to read all Four Gospels cover to cover. Whether you have already done so, or not, in your life, because now more than ever we need to hold fast to the words of Jesus Christ and His teaching, and refresh ourselves and the Fountain of Salvation. Do this prayerfully and silently, and let it be your Lectio Divina, like a monk in his monastic cells, contemplating higher and better things.
Third, I recommend that in your homes you gather together to recite the Most Holy Rosary. Either 5 decades a day, or better yet, all 15, by reciting 5 decades in the morning, 5 decades at Noon, and 5 decades in the evening. This would be a wonderful way of living the Faith together this Holy Week.
Fourth, I recommend that you watch as little or no TV as possible. Taste for this one week, as if on a retreat in a Monastery, how beautiful life is without the TV and Radio running non stop. Instead, I highly recommend enthroning an Image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary in your home. If you have a printer, print one out. If you have a holy card use that. If you have neither, find and image on the web, and display it on your device, and make the enthronement as if you could post one in your home. Jesus and Mary will understand. Or if someone can draw, have them draw such images. This is a wonderful project for children.
Fifth, for those who can, I encourage you to join in the Perpetual Supplica or Devotions of Bl. Emmerich at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, which I publish every night — and God-willing, with another 160 subscribers, live soon! Blessed Emmerich was inspired by God to rise at midnight every night and pray with her arms in the form of the Cross for the Church. That is why I call them the Devotions of Bl. Emmerich.
Sixth, on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, I highly recommend reading out-loud, together with those with whom your reside, the texts of the Gospels for the Passion of Our Lord. This is a blessed way of reliving the events of Our Salvation and making the remembrance of all which Our Lord did and said and suffered vividly alive once again, in your families.
Seventh, I encourage you to make many acts of sorrow and penitence for your sins and to resolve every more firmly and resolutely to sin nor more and to serve the Lord Jesus. Spend at least 15 minutes each day in silent prayer, alone in your room, and speak to the Lord and His Saints in your own words. Ask for the grace and light and virtue the actual graces to do His will, to govern your homes in a manner pleasing to Him. Ask especially for His blessing upon your family and His protection.

Readership of FromRome.Info increases 65% in March
by Br. Alexis Bugnolo
With the month of March passed, I write to thank the readers of FromRome.Info for all their support of this apostolate at the service of Jesus Christ, the Truth, and His Holy Catholic Church, the ark of salvation, in communion with His Vicar on Earth, Pope Benedict XVI.
The month of March showed once again, in statistical numbers, the growing interest in the cause of Pope Benedict XVI and in learning more about how to avoid the Big Lies of our age.
Here are some statistics to illustrate that. In March, there was an increase of 65% in total views of articles at FromRome.Info, 216,000 over February’s 131,000. This was an increase roughly 10 times greater, in page views, than the increase from January to February, and thus represents an increase in new readers.
In the same period, there was a 85% increase in the total number of readers: 81,621 over February’s 41, 076.
A growth in personal interest in the articles published by FromRome.Info was shown also in the number of comments in March: 1302, over February’s 868, an increase of 50%.
Likes on articles, which is a function which only WordPress members can participate in, increased by 28%, from 1179 in February to 1514 in March.
In March, more importantly, the readers of FromRome.Info, through the Committee, “Save us O Mary!” funded 5 advertisements to promote the Devotion to Our Lady of Saint Maria Maggiore in the Italian Newspaper, La Veritá, which were seen by more than 1 Million readers in Italy. Though Italy remains under Corona Control because of the Corona Hype which has caused a Corona Panic, viewership of the nightly Perpetual Novena has increase roughly 400% on many nights, on account of these advertisements.
In March, FromRome.Info continued to publish numerous articles, round the clock: a total of 326, over February’s 226.
It was in March, also, that FromRome.info produced and published its first video, distributed on its own platform. While this presents a new possibility for informing our readers, the amount of space required to publish videos is severely limited.
So FromRome.Info continues to publish its videos and original content on its public Channel, From Rome Info Video, on YouTube, where it has already published 105 videos, most of these are the videos for the Perpetual Supplica to Our Lady of Santa Maria Maggiore (Salus populi romani). With just another 160 subscribers to that channel, FromRome.Info will be able to bring its readers LIVE broadcasts not only of the nightly Novena, but of news from Rome, Italy, on all topics, fulfilling my dream of transforming FromRome.Info into a YouTube TV channel for information on the Catholic Church and Rome, Italy, in the English language.
Data usage to publish and produce articles and videos increased from 60 GB in February to 150 GB in March. FromRome.Info now is using 2 cellphones and 1 router with 2 accounts to keep text and video production going for its readers and viewers. As video production increases, FromRome.Info will have to acquire more cellphone SIMS and change them out weekly as data is used up (a 40 minute video uses about 4 GB of Data to publish it).
Finally, I want to thank everyone who has supported FromRome.Info and the Emmerich Appeal. I could never have done what I did in March without you.
I want to thank especially the volunteers who make FromRome.Info what it is. First, Mrs. Colgan as graphic designer of the new Blue Cross and the new From Rome header. Second, the writers: Austin Walsh, Frank Magill, Andrew J. Baalman, Don Elia, John Bronston, Dr. Edward Mazza, David Kaftal, Giuseppe Pellegrino and lastly, Marco Tosatti for his permission to publish in English articles from his personal website, MarcoTosatti.com.
I also owe a big thanks to all my anonymous correspondents who feed me information about what is going on in the Church and world, which is of interest to the readers of FromRome.Into.
Be assured of my prayers, to Our Lord, Our Lady and Saint Francis. May the Holy Angels of God watch over you and your families in this time of universal panic.
