VATICAN NEWS entirely ignorant of Latin, or is it something worse?

Editor’s Note: Vatican News has documented and demonstrated that its editors and staff are completely ignorant and incompetent when it comes to the official Language of Vatican City: Latin.

The proof is found in the above article, where the English version reads thus:

On April 12, 2017, the Holy Father Francis appointed him Archbishop Metropolitan of Bialystok. In 2021, Archbishop Wojda was appointed Metropolitan of Gdansk by Pope Francis. The motto of Archbishop Wojda’s episcopal ministry is the words from the Gospel according to St. Mark (13:10): “Oportet praedicari Evangelium” (That the Gospel may be preached).

Oportet praedicari Evangelium, however, means, “It is a must (or necessary) that the Gospel be preached”.

But Vatican News may not be ignorant of Latin. It could be that it hates the Gospel so much that it would not dream of translating the phase from the Gospel of Mark 13:10 correctly.

And if that is the case, Vatican News is so ideologically bent as to be worth no more than a Masonic rag sheet.

With Globalist Censorship growing daily, No one will ever know about the above article, if you do not share it.

  1. The abuse of language and words to change the true meaning of the Holy words of God is not a new thing. Take for instance the Holy Bible and the Holy Sacrafice of the Mass…which are supposed to be the verbatim words of God’s revealed to his creature man. When just one word is omitted, or changed, or misinterpreted, it affects the graces recieved by the human race. And this is not my opinion, I read it in old books with Imprmaturs and NihilObstats. These were made obsolete by V2, and boy does the Church suffer because of it.

  2. I am sure you are familiar with ‘reconstructed’ pronunciation of Latin being pushed by some Germans since the late 19th century. In such ‘recovered’ pronunciation, Julius Caesar has allegedly said “weenie, weedy, winky” after conquering Gaul. According to the same creed: ALL the Spanish, Italian, Rumanian, French and other linguistic groups that survived after the fall of the Roman Empire, forgot Latin in the very same way as for the usage of the vowels a, o, and u being strong while e and i being weak. Strange.

I believed the ‘recovered’ opposes the ‘received’ pronunciation merely on political grounds. Latin should be taught in schools daily. It used to be the way for scholars to be able to communicate when they had no other language in common.

In C. S. Lewis’ novel That Hideous Strength, Erwin Ransom dialogues with Merlin in Latin since they could not quite understand each other’s English.

    Pax et Bonum

    1. No on in Spain or Italy believes German theories about Latin, just as no one in German understands Latin or even how to renounce the papacy in Latin.
