All of the problems that you cite are merely symptoms of the deeper, core problem, which is an unwillingness to live out a deep commitment to Jesus Christ, His will, His ways, His Word.

When you do battle in the temporal world, you are being misled by Satan to attack the many-headed Hydra. For every head you cut off, two more grow back in its place. No matter how good your intentions, no matter how much energy and how many resources you pour into the fight, it’s a losing battle.

God gives us the leadership we deserve. Right now, looking at both our spiritual and secular leadership, we as a people should realize how far off base we are regarding His expectations of us.

We are allowing the worst sort of debauchery into the minds of our children through TV, music, Internet games, etc. No one complains about these things, no one campaigns to take smart phones away from children.

Mothers are no longer willing, or in many cases able, to stay home with their children to supervise them, or to chaperon their activities.

Hollywood, or more importantly their sponsors, should have been flooded with letters of complaint decades ago, before it got this bad.

The apathy of the average American, and dare I say it, the average Christian, has allowed all of these symptoms of corruption to develop.

There is no use whatsoever in fighting the symptoms if you fail to address the underlying cause, a lukewarm commitment to Jesus Christ.

Turn the hearts of the people back to Him, and He will, de facto, become our king.

  2. I agree with Deborah, but, being now the age of a great grandmother, I can testify for certain that .. knees on the floor, prayers from the heart, tears from the eyes , monthly Sacrament of Confession , the LatinMass and the Rosary Novena to Our Lady( 27 in petition/ 27 in Thanksgiving) are about the most powerful antidotes to the whirlwind of evil we are under . And accepting with no emotion the hill you will die on with His Cross on your back .

I really enjoy the videos by this priest, Father Chad Ripperberger, a Catholic exorcist.

I would say this video addresses some of the anguish you obviously feel about the dreadful signs of our times.

I hope his unique perspective will help you to work your way through some of the current mess we find ourselves in, because you obviously care very deeply.

Mary, the older I get the more I realize that prayer to God and seeking my own sanctification are the most powerful paths to dealing with the world’s problems.

Somehow, we have trouble realizing that prayer brings the most powerful force in the universe to bear on any given situation.

And how can I encourage others to seek virtue if I don’t seek it myself? And an increase of virtue in the world affects everyone.
