Editor’s Note: It’s dishonest to say that signing a heretical document does not the heretic make, when the one signing has the responsibility not to sign such things. The implication by Arroyo that Pope Francis is not a heretic, on this basis, is absurd. — The assertion of Fr.  Murray that Pope Francis simply made a mistake is also equally absurd.

But Fr. Murray is right on in saying that Pope Francis is involved in a “cynical game” in proposing something, then denying it, then letting everyone discuss it, vote against it, and then spring these on them.
