And I hope that by it you may also understand how important it is to support authentic religious life of convents and monasteries, so that those souls who are called to be consecrated and devoted to God in a special way, and pray for us in our battle hereon earth, might have a place where they can easily acquire an interior life and approach God for us, in prayer and true holiness.

  1. This is excellent catechesis, Brother Alexis, and very timely at the start of a new Liturgical Year when our priests & bishops should all be calling each of us to a ‘spiritual renewal’, by living our lives according to, and in full agreement with, GOD’s Ten Commandments and to the Divine teachings of Jesus Christ our Saviour & Redeemer.

You have used one particular expression which is both memorable and sobering:-
“Every decision you make in life takes you one step closer, or one step further away, from GOD.”

Your video has initiated much contemplation & reflection
and needs repeated viewing in order to ‘unpack’ all that it contains.
It is indeed vital that we all seek to practice the prime virtue of Humility in all of our actions.
And, yes indeed, let us all give every possible support to the authentic religious life of convents and monasteries.

    Pax tecum.

    1. “Prayer is man’s richest boon. It is his light, his nourishment, and his very life, for it brings him into communication with GOD, who is light [St John 8: 12], nourishment [St John 6: 35], and life [St John 14: 6].
But of ourselves we know not what we should pray for as we ought {Romans 8: 26]; we must needs, therefore, address ourselves to Jesus Christ, and say to Him as the apostles did: ‘Lord, teach us how to pray.’ [St Luke 11: 1] He alone can make the dumb speak, and give eloquence to the mouths of children; and this prodigy He effects by sending His Spirit of grace and of prayers, [Zach. 12: 10] who delights in helping our infirmity, asking for us with unspeakable groanings. [Romans 8: 26]”

[1st paragraph of the General Preface to Volume 1 of the 15-volume “The Liturgical Year” by Dom Prosper Gueranger O.S.B. [1805-75], Abbot of Solesmes from 1837.]

(The 15 volumes of “The Liturgical Year” are generally considered to be ‘the greatest book on the Roman Liturgy ever penned’ and I feel both humbled & privileged to possess a nearly-new complete set of hardback books which are my daily liturgical ‘bread & butter’ and a source of immense catechesis, contemplation, and inspiration! DEO gratias.)

  2. This is so good! Thank you!

My husband and I are presently attempting to discern a big decision. While we have consciously verbalized that the decision must first be in keeping with God’s will, these very specific steps you have outlined will be valuable in making the appropriate determination.

    God bless you!

  3. Bro Alexis, could you name a good authentic religious life of convents and monasteries here in USA to support besides the convent of the incorrupt Sister Wilmelhina Lancaster of Missouri?
