ROME: Parishioners revolt against Synod on Synodality prayer

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

Here is a report that you will find no where else on Catholic Media, because nearly no news outlet is staffed by Catholics who go to daily mass in any but the same place.

But I have to write about it because I have never seen the like of it in all my life as a Catholic.

I popped into a Church in the province of Rome, the other day, and the priest, at the time of the prayers of the faithful invited the congregation to pray for the good results of the Synod on Synodality, speaking in positive terms about its outcome.

Now I know the congregation at this Church from past experiences, and I know that 80% of them say all the responses and stand and sit and kneel on cue.

But when the priest asked the congregation to stand to pray for the Synod. NO ONE stood.

And when the priest recited the Prayers of the Faithful refrain, only one woman replied.

The same happened throughout the entire litany of absurd invocations.

Then the mass progressed and everyone began to stand and sit and kneel and respond and sing, as they had done at all other previous masses.

Vox populi, vox Spiritus sancti — I think sums it up perfectly.
