I feel deeply for this man. When you are validated in sexual sin by your culture, it is much harder to give up.
I came of age in the 60’s-70’s, the era of Women’s Lib, “Free” Love, and fashionable drug use. I became a very promiscuous young woman. I am strictly heterosexual, but I am very familiar with the nature of sexual addiction, as well as drug, alcohol and nicotine addiction.
The best and most permanent way out of any addiction is Jesus Christ. He came to set the captives free. What are the captives captive to? Addictions, (among other things, like brainwashing).
You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. John 8:32
If the Son shall set you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:36
When people turn to Christ for help with their addictions, most of the time it is in the setting of a church. People mostly need the guidance and support of a priest or pastor in their understanding of what God actually expects of us and specifically what kind of help He offers us to accomplish that.
To have the leadership of the church to do a 180 and suddenly decide, like the culture, to validate sin, is a betrayal of the most pernicious sort.
I encourage anyone in this situation to seek out Jesus Christ directly. Study your Bible to see what He says and pray His words back to Him.
Dear Jesus, you say in your word that you will set me free. I pray that you will fulfill that promise to me by setting me free from (name your sin). I put my trust in you. Thank you. Amen.
Some sins are deeply embedded in our psyches and take a long time to cure. Rest assured that God is working on your behalf, keep praying, keep trusting, and NEVER GIVE UP, and one day you will be free indeed.
Very well said.
