  1. These animals are frightened by noises and traffic and feel insecure away from environs and hungry away from feeding-schedules and keepers they know. There are not enough keepers who know how to recapture the animals with with tranquillisers; Some will suffer traffic injuries, have to be humanely destroyed; most have to be shot to prevent loss of human life.
