Editor’s Note: It is a fact of history that Bishops in the USA during the reign of Pope John Paul II were instructed by Rome to move pedophiles to new parishes. Rome has been giving this advice for a very long time, perhaps 1000 years. John Paul II never repudiated that, as far as I know. Pope Benedict XVI did. — If the Polish Pope did it in ignorance it is not a sin, but do we really want to honor on the altars of God anyone, in Heaven or Earth, who did this in ignorance or in malice? The veneration of the Saints is to promote true virtue. No one is in ignorance anymore that that solution is the wrong solution. And that is what is more important than the present political controversy.

  1. As a true oldster lcan recall JP2s reign as the first Pope in my lifetime whom everyone was drawn to by his very demeanor. Millions came out to see him. He had the same ability to make people feel safe and loved as Pope Francis does. But, the switching of pedophile prelates from parish to parish was the way it was handled. I know this from my own USA diocese. Some of those victims sued and got millions of dollars later on in life.from lawsuits . Maybe the very strict celibacy laws of Pope Pius 11th should have been followed. : If a seminarian had not achieved the discipline of a celibate life by the end of the second year in the seminary, it was best to dismiss them.

  2. I am not denying that evil happened under John Paul II’s watch, but he might have been ignorant, or he might have given orders that were ignored. He might have been lied to about the orders being carried out. Was the information blocked from getting to him? Was his See impeded also?

    I listened to audio a while ago from an exorcist in the US, either Fr Ripperger or Msgr Rossetti, who said that he knew the exorcism was starting the end phase when he saw JPII appear and almost over when he saw Saint Gemma Galgani appear. I wish I could find it again to provide you with the link, but I did find these quotes below from Fr Gabriel Amroth. If JPII was not in heaven, I do not think the demons would fear him no matter what he did on earth.

  3. No bias there, much… JP II always reminded me of Anthony Quinn’s character Pope in “Shoes of the Fisherman” released in the mid ’60s, well before JP II was elected. By the business of protecting pedophiles & allowing them to remain priests, to me, is a inexcusable come, as well as sin. Yes, Yhwh God will forgive the sin, but they are still accountable for the crime; aiding & abetting is also a cime in the US.

  4. I was 18 when JP II has been chosen to be a pope from my communist Poland. First of all, the documents given to show his so called “guilt” are coming from communist internal police ( like KGB type) from the time of communist Poland. Are they trustworthy? I am not sure, but I do not believe ANYTHING they present. You have to remember, the same police has murdered cruelly Blessed Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko. I do not know if JPII really knew, but if he did, the option of given these priests into the hands of communist police, at that time, would be insane! They would be tortured at best. However, knowing for a fact, that JPII and his teaching is presently like impenetrable wall protecting catholicism in Poland against transgender ideology and all its evils, so easily functioning in Europe – am I surprise that this attack on JPII has been orchestrated now? No, I am not surprised… not at all! I think, this will boomerang on those, who push it on. Poland still stands with Jesus the King and His holy pope!!!

  6. Is anyone familiar with his ‘Person in Action’ published book of 1969? It contains a treatise of c. 35 premises which I would suggest any aficionados familiarise themselves with before suggesting any opinion on him. If one is not familiar with the philosophy of Free-Masonry, one certainly will be having read these.

    1. Phenomenology cannot understand or explain human personhood, and any attempt to learn something from that is worse than useless. The conceive the person as an essence and thus want man to be made out of 3 things, body, soul, and person. It is laughable.

        Brother, sorry to use the Comments to ask, however are you aware of any resource (ideally ‘soft’) that gives a guide for Latin mácron symbols?

        I do not speak Latin and find it much easier being able to identify the long vowel.

        Any helps very much appreciated.
