How to distinguish between authentic Traditional Catholicism, and the Fake variety

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

French Translation

I have been on the internet since 1991, so I have seen a lot of characters, games, tricks and modus operandi. And since all the fraudsters out there are mostly johnny-come-latelies, they lash out at anyone who recognizes them for that they are.

But the longest scam I have seen so far, is that of those who claim to be Traditional Catholics but who are nothing of the kind.

I make this stark declaration, because I know what the Church has always taught and how the Saints have comported themselves, because from my youth I have read the documents of the Magisterium and the lives and writings of the Saints.

And the first rule, by which they all say, a Catholic can rightfully and accurately detect falsehood or fraud in our Holy Religion is this: novelty.

That is, if anyone is promoting a new way of living or doing or observing the Catholic Faith, it is nearly always of the Devil or of crass ignorance, and not of God.

The Traditional Movement is for the most part, of this kind. (Here I use “most part” as regards numbers)

Fake Traditionalism

This Movement is lead by false pretenders to the name, because they are all involved in grave novelties, even though they proclaim and advertise themselves as traditional.

Nearly all of these bad apples are modernists, for this reason, because they justify their novelty as the current correct interpretation of past Catholic beliefs and practices. But if you point out that Catholics of the past actually did not act as they are acting, they will insist that the past way of acting is not possible.

To understand this better it would be best to list the errors of modernism which they hold:

  1. That private judgement is a sufficient basis to claim that anything is true or right.
  2. That Catholics have the moral obligation to take as their leaders those who are most consistent in adhering to private judgement.
  3. That Catholics have no real obligation to act within the canonical order of the Church’s laws, when this conflicts with private judgement.
  4. That prayers and rituals are acceptable to God only when they are offered by those who adhere to private judgement.

These are the 4 principles that Modernists and nearly all Traditionalists live by. And that Traditionalists live by the same principles as Modernists shows that they are not really Traditional Catholics, but Modernists of a different flavor.

Traditionalism is also a heresy condemned at the First Vatican Council. Thus, anyone who would even want to take that word to name themselves, has a problem.  Traditionalism is the heresy which says all truth comes from tradition. Such a definitive error wants that no truth comes from Divine Revelation or Ecclesiastical Authority, nor from human investigation through a right use of the intellect.

Traditionalism leads to private judgement and the errors I have listed above, because since all those who are dead cannot tell us what they did or held, it is the field of private judgement to say what they would say and make it a rule for the present.

Authentic Catholicism is Traditional in another way

Authentic Catholicism is traditional by its very origin, since our Holy Faith was revealed by Jesus Christ Our God to the Apostles, and handed down by them to the whole Church. Part of this Apostolic Tradition established the Sacred Hierarchy with the authority to interpret and protect the Deposit of the Faith.

The Catholic Faith does not change, that is, does not undergo alteration. Those whose faith, which was once Catholic, but which undergoes alteration, believe things different than that which was handed down from of old.

This is why Pope Benedict XVI in Summorum Pontificum declares that what the Church once did, can never be outlawed.

But Catholics of old did not just go to Mass or receive the Sacraments. They also obeyed their superiors and reproved them privately and publicly.

The Church has canonical procedures for condemning heresy and putting back into canonical order the Church: Synods, Provincial Councils and Ecumenical Councils.

Larping on Social Media is not one of them. Claiming to be persecuted is not one of them. Auto-justifying your own private schism is not one of them.

Thus Sedevacantism and large parts of the so-called Traditional Catholic Movement, by the very fact that they jettison every intention to observe Canon Law or remain in ecclesiastical communion, by this declare themselves to be NOT traditional.

Catholics who are truly concerned with the salvation of souls do not act this way. They organize and collaborate among themselves to correct problems in the Church. And you won’t find them among the Catholic Grifter Collective, which only wants to lament and collect money for themselves, and who are incensed most of all that anyone would dare correct the problems, without which they could not continue to grift on Social Media.

True Catholics are always traditional. They do not seek to break from ecclesiastical communion, and they actually do speak with and lobby their superiors, with charity, to get problems corrected. They are persistent and work with others. And they do not do it for the sake of fame or personal enrichment, but only for the salvation of souls.

In modern times, this authentic catholic spirit is much lacking, because we live in an age with excessive centralization, such that nearly no one knows how to defend their rights or those of the entire community, in  Catholic way.

We need to relearn these things. But the Clergy need to do so especially.

Beware, because most “Catholic” Social Media Accounts are actually Masonic

Commentary by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

on the article by Catholic World Report: On Social Media and Spiritual Dangers for Catholics Today

How does a Catholic distinguish a social media account which claims to be Catholic, from one which is only claiming that?

There is a good practical rule: judge them by their own words.

If they teach error, heresy, schism, they are not Catholic.

Do not be confused by any sort of apparent claim to be “conservative” or “traditional”, stick to the rule.

As regards error: if they say someone who is not the pope is the pope, pay them no attention.

Or if they say a document has more authority than it does, pay them no attention.

Of if they jettison faith and follow every whim of their leaders or superiors, they are not Catholic. It does not make much of a difference, whether they are self-proclaimed leaders or canonical superiors, the sin is the same. Though Faith does teach that we should never heed the advice of a self-proclaimed leader.

Why are there so many accounts on social media by persons or groups claiming to be Catholic but who are violating this Rule?

This is a good question, and perhaps if I do not answer it right now, it will preoccupy your attention long enough for you to find the answer. Because, when you find the answer after personal search, it often means more to you and is more easily remembered, than an answer given you on the plate, without asking.

However, I think you will find that if accounts spreading error, heresy, or schism, seem to be promoted more than those who tell the truth, then you have to wonder if they are or have the support of Freemasonry.

Right now there is a world-wide effort to make the Catholic Faith and Sacred Hierarchy appear to be something they are not. But no one is talking about resisting that effort, because for the most part, those who are shouting “Recognize and Resist” are feeding you a false narrative, as explained here.

Cardinal Roche issues Fraudulent Rescript regarding his Feb. 20, 2023 meeting with Pope Francis

Commentary and Evaluation by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

En Français

Here it pays to know Canon Law. For a rescript is an official written confirmation of the decisions made by a superior in a private meeting. It serves as a documentary evidence of what was decided. — The inferior who attends the meeting asks for a rescript from the superior with whom he met.

But here, Cardinal Roche, of the Congregation for Divine Worship, issues a rescript claiming that Pope Francis made certain decisions regarding the interpretation of Traditionis Custodes.

It really cannot get more laughable than that. Because Cardinal Roche is already accused by canonists for arrogating to himself the right to interpret Traditionis Custodes, which only a Pope Can do. Now he has arrogated to himself the right to issue a Papal Rescript. — He even has the gall to give it a Latin title, to make it appear to be legit.

Hopefully, some Cardinal will inform Pope Francis of what Cardinal Roche has done, which is truly outrageous.

Canonically, if a superior refuses to issue a rescript, then it is as if nothing at all has been said during the meeting. However, Traddies are regarding this as a papal rescript binding in law, in the most ridiculous turn of events. Because just 2 months ago, they regarded the wrong man as pope, and now when they only have one pope, they are regarding curial Cardinal as the pope! This is truly pathetic. I do not know whether to burst out laughing or crying.

Here we have a decisive proof of the intervention of Christ’s Priestly Prayer. Roche wanted Pope Francis to use his papal authority to interpret the document strictly.  But Pope Francis did not do that. He omitted to act.

Just as I predicted the day before the meeting of Pope Francis and Cardinal Roch, here.

True Catholics believe in the words of Jesus, the deeds of St. Peter, and the actual meaning of Canon Law. That is why we can anticipate the future, since Truth comes from Heaven which is outside of time.

UPDATE:

After initially claiming falsely that Pope Francis authored the rescript, the National Catholic Register has corrected their story — still omitting, however, the fact that the Cardinal has no authority to issue it. In fact, the assertion that a dispensation is required, even though there is no textual mention in Traditionis Custodes of such a thing, is an attempt not only at the arrogation, on the Part of the Cardinal, of the right of the Pope to issue a rescript, but the usurpation of the authority of the Holy Father to issue a new law.

Controlled Media’s Nervous Repetitious Mutterings against Pope Benedict XVI have a motive

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

En Français

You would think that with the death of the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, the globalist controlled media would leave the man in peace.

But no.

Because Pope Benedict XVI was the first pope in perhaps a century — since the election of Saint Pius X — which the powers of the world, that be, DID NOT WANT.

From the first day of his election he was viciously attacked. He even remarked to his biographer, that if he so much mentioned the Church in Germany a chorus of frenzied journalists would respond with calumnies the next day.

Pope Benedict XVI may have been an extremely meek man, but those who listened to everything he said, recognize that he called a spade a spade, when push came to shove.

But no, they won’t leave him in peace.

La Repubblica, the Communist daily of Rome, is rehashing the unconfirmed allegation that on the day of Bergoglio’s uncanonical election, on March 13, 2013, that Pope Benedict XVI called him by phone. — Even though Pope Benedict XVI relates differently to his biographer.

You see, in death, the former secretaries of Pope Benedict XVI can claim anything they want, as the Pope cannot contradict them verbally any longer.

This regurgitated accusation is made by Xureb, the other less famous secretary, whom Pope Benedict XVI trusted so much, that he commanded him to serve Bergoglio after March 2013.

Esquire for its part — I will not link to the article because FromRome.Info is a family friendly site — is rehashing the dominant narrative of the last 10 years. Unlike La Repubblica, Esquire has the honestly to admit it was not as rosy as presented. They admit that Catholics doubted the validity of the Conclave of 2013, once revelations of vote canvassing were revealed. — FromRome.Info led the charge and is and remains the leading site for covering that controversy, which blew open in November of 2014, when Austen Ivereigh spilled the beans in his biography of Bergoglio, entitled, “The Great Reformer”. See my reports on Team Bergoglio.

Esquire then laments that some Catholics even doubted the validity of the Renunciation! Yes, you can hear the mockery in the tone of their report.

The whole purpose of Esquire’s report is to soothe consciences, and make it appear that the battle is over, since the problem is dead.

But I ask, at the distance of 7 weeks, why all the nervous mutterings about things long past?

I think I know why.

Because when you realize that your chief player on the field is no longer defending your goal, but that of your opponent, what can you say to your fans? That he has switched teams? Certainly not.

Wait for it.

I foresee that as Spring unfolds, the MSM will be running the story that Pope Francis is being pressured by conservatives. And the B16 Sedevacantists will jump on that to explain away their greatest fear of all: that there is a God, who actually gave the Church of Rome the authority to elect their own bishop, and direct the High Priestly Prayer of Christ to that man. — Next, when that narrative does not seem to work, they will invent some sort of psychological theory, claiming that Pope Francis is under some sort of compulsion to imitate Pope Benedict XVI in orthodoxy, like a man is induced to imitate his father after his father’s passing. — Get your popcorn ready!

ROME: Rupnick barred from ministry after 15 more victims come forward

Editor’s Note: The Independent is showing that it is not so independent, by hiding this article behind a subscription wall. But the American Jesuit Magazine has this same AP story for free here, below. As for the Jesuit superior interviewed in the article, he is clearly shaken and is attempting to downplay the scandal, which is only one small example of the horrendous morally degraded environment in the Society of Jesus since the Council.

Br. Bugnolo’s February Appeal

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

I want to thank all who have helped me since the New Year, even without asking. I am especially thankful to those who thought of my needs through all the dramatic events of the last two months.

Looking Back

As I wrote in True Devotion to Pope Benedict XVI, back on September 12, 2022, the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary, not everyone who recognized Pope Benedict XVI as still the Pope, was really honest in their intentions. That article was barely noticed, and criticized by no one. But now it is an important historical record.

As we have seen, while it is just to recognize there are problems in the Church, only those Catholics with Faith in Jesus Christ can actually solve them, because only they actually believe in the power of His Name in such wise as to get that done in a way that does His Will and serves the salvation of the multitude.

I am tremendously humbled, that so many of you, from so many nations, helped do the work that needed to be done. Perhaps no one will ever believe us, but the fruit of that holy work is now visible to the nations.

That work cost approximately $60,000 for rental of the Hall and the staff for crowd control. Total donations from all sources amounted to $43,000 roughly. For the rest of the expenses, I asked the estate of my late mother, to pay for them, from the fund set aside for my burial and health care in old age.

Looking ahead

Having finished my work advocating for Pope Benedict XVI, I am determined to stay at the Hermitage of the Holy Cross, to do what I can to help the Roman Church. And for that reason I appreciate your support.

I wish to express thanks to all those who participated in the Chapel Fundraiser,  in December, which has provided all the things necessary for when a Priest visits. — Priests visiting Rome, who need a place to stay, for free, where they can say daily Mass, before or after their daily visit to Rome, are always welcome (they can contact me via a comment, here at FromRome.Info for more information).

Many ask what are the normal monthly expenses, here at the Hermitage, and so I give this breakdown, in Euros: 1300 for rent, 75 for electricity, 35 water, and in Wintertime 550 monthly for heat, and 250 for food and supplies.

Thanks to all of you who, in addition to the Election Fund, helped me, I met the needs for January and February.

In advance I offer my gratitude and prayers to all who read this article, regardless of whether they can or cannot help me this month.

USA: Arrest has been made in murder of Bishop David O’Connell

https://twitter.com/lacatholics/status/1627805116538519552

Press conference begins after 14:30 of silent intro in the above video.

Summary: Medina, husband of the housekeeper, who had himself done work around the residence of the Bishop, who lived by himself, was disgruntled, considering himself unpaid by the Bishop for previous work done on the Bishop’s residence. He is now the prime suspect in the murder. — At end of presentation, Archbishop Gomez is brought to tears.

It appears that the suspect in the case is a legal immigrant to the United States from Latin America.

UPDATE:

It appears that the Bishop’s misfortune may have been merited by his gross errors in theology and morals. In fact, everyone praising him as a holy and loving man, is a far-left marxist.

Pope Francis addresses the Circle of St. Peter: Feb. 20, 2023 A. D.

UNOFFICIAL TRANSLATION

GREETING OF THE HOLY FATHER FRANCIS
TO THE MEMBERS OF THE SAN PIETRO CULTURAL CLUB

Clementine Hall
Monday, February 20, 2023

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!

I warmly thank the President and I welcome everyone here, near the tomb of Saint Peter, whose name your Association bears. For you it is like returning to the source, to the root from which your charity comes and, even before that, the faith that animates you and carries you forward.

I thank God for all the good you do, thank you! We know it: it is He who gives us the strength to do it. But I also give credit to you, who put all your effort, time, energy, creativity, patience, perseverance into it. It always strikes me to see the numbers of your activities, not because of the numbers themselves, but because there are so many faces behind it, there are stories, there are very often wounds, sores. And so I think of you who meet these brothers and sisters in the canteens, in the counseling centres, in the dormitory, or in the family homes for the little ones hospitalized at the “Bambino Gesù”, and I recognize in you the image of the good Samaritan. The good Samaritan, in the parable of the Gospel of Luke, approaches the wounded man on the side of the road, he approaches moved by compassion. He doesn’t know him, he is a stranger, in a certain sense even an “enemy”, because the Samaritans were frowned upon and despised. But he approaches because his heart is tender, he is not hardened, he is capable of tenderness.

And this is the first thing I want to recommend to you: tenderness. How does God do things? With three attitudes: closeness, mercy and tenderness. So is God: close, merciful and tender. Attention, I’m not talking about sentimentality, no. I am speaking of a trait of God’s love which is needed today more than ever. Sometimes a caress given from the heart does more good than a few coins. In societies often polluted by the culture of indifference and the culture of waste, as believers we are called to go against the current with the culture of tenderness, that is, of taking care of the other as God took care of me, of us, of you, of each of us. We see it in the Gospel: how Jesus approaches the little ones, the marginalized, the least. He is the Good Samaritan who gave his life for us in need of mercy and forgiveness.

And this, dear friends, is the second thing we must never forget: that we truly love others to the extent that we acknowledge ourselves loved by Him, by our Lord and Savior. We help to the extent that we feel we have been helped; we are lifted up if we allow ourselves to be lifted up by him every day. And we can experience this in the silence of prayer, when we strip ourselves of our roles, of our duties – perhaps even of our masks, God forbid – and we remain before Him as we are, without masks . There then he can place his Spirit in our heart, he can give us his compassion and his tenderness. And so we can go on. Not us – as Saint Paul would say – not us, but He with us! This is the secret of the Christian life and, in a particular way, of charitable service.

Dear brothers and sisters, I renew my gratitude and encouragement to you. I cannot physically accompany you on the streets of Rome, but I do it with my heart and with prayer. I ask Our Lady, Salus populi Romani, to look after you and to protect the people you meet and your families. I bless you all and ask you please to pray for me. Thank you!
