Within a Month, the Catholic Church will have a new Roman Pontiff

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

Traduction Française — Versione Italiana

The passing of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, the Successor of Saint Peter, has started the clock which countdowns the time set by the Papal Law Universi dominici gregis, for the election of a new Roman Pontiff.

This process is an unavoidable and necessary legal requirement for the College of Cardinals, who are given no special authority in the Church to elect the Roman Pontiff apart from this law.

In accord with n. 37 of that law, modified by Pope Benedict XVI on Feb. 22, 2013 A. D., the Cardinals must convene to elect a new pope of the Catholic Church within 21 days, for a valid election. This validity is granted by the Papal Law only under the most stringent and exclusive condition, of n. 77 of that law:

77. I decree that the dispositions concerning everything that precedes the election of the Roman Pontiff and the carrying out of the election itself must be observed in full, even if the vacancy of the Apostolic See should occur as a result of the renunciation of the Supreme Pontiff, in accordance with the provisions of Canon 333 § 2 of the Code of Canon Law and Canon 44 § 2 of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches.

(Please note that the official English translation, has “resignation” in place of “renunciation” in the passage above, where as the only binding text, the Latin original reads, “renunciation”.)

Thus, since Pope Benedict XVI never in fact renounced the petrine munus, which he was elected to receive in accord with express obligation of the Cardinals, in a conclave, specified in n. 53 of that same papal law,*  the College must convene.

In this regard, there is now an attempt by some to impose an entirely false narrative upon the present circumstances, not only as regards the completely non-factual assertions that Pope Benedict XVI has abdicated, or the attempt to signify that with the word “resignation” which does not exist in the Church’s juridical norms currently in force, but also to insist that this Papal Law be interpreted according to English common law, where the mere holding of power gives one a right.

Contrariwise, in Church Law, which is based on Roman Law, the merely holding of power confers no right. Thus, the Cardinal electors, by the mere fact that they are the electors, have no right to alter the observance of the Law or chose not to fulfill it.

If they do, they would lose all right to elect the Roman Pontiff, and the Church would enter into an exception juridical situation, as regards the current norms, and the Apostolic Right of the faithful of the Church of Rome (Dioceses of Rome and the Suburbican Dioceses bordering it) revives, since as the prefatory letter of Pope John Paul II, affixed to the Papal Law, expressly affirms that the institution of the Conclave “is not necessary for the valid election of the Roman Pontiff.”

Immediately following the burial of Pope Benedict XVI we should not be surprised if we see the Dean of the College invoke a Conclave. This is because, by the very nature of the requirement in n. 37, the Cardinals must convene within 21 days of the death of the Roman Pontiff:

No. 37. “I furthermore decree that, from the moment when the Apostolic See is lawfully vacant, fifteen full days must elapse before the Conclave begins, in order to await those who are absent; nonetheless, the College of Cardinals is granted the faculty to move forward the start of the Conclave if it is clear that all the Cardinal electors are present; they can also defer, for serious reasons, the beginning of the election for a few days more. But when a maximum of twenty days have elapsed from the beginning of the vacancy of the See, all the Cardinal electors present are obliged to proceed to the election.”

(This is the modified version of n. 37, as changed by Pope Benedict XVI).

They can meet earlier if they are all assembled, but they cannot defer more than 21 days.

Also, though they have discretion to interpret vague obligations of this law, as per n. 5 of this law, they cannot interpret 21 to be any other number.

In addition, they cannot exercise the discretion of n. 5, unless they hold a meeting and vote upon it, since votes of a juridical nature specified in the Code of Canon Law, must be in person.

The dominant narrative is attempting, however, to pre-program the expectation that the Cardinals will not convene in Conclave. Though it is impossible to know the future, one can however outline how imprudent that would be for the rights and privileges of the College.

First, because the Cardinals have no exclusive right and only have a right to elect a pope, according to this law, if they exercise their rights, the situation is not like English Common Law where they have the discretionary right not to exercise their statutory duty.

Second, because the Cardinals cannot decide to do anything except by vote, that vote not to enter into Conclave would have to be unanimous, for it it were not, then the Cardinals dissenting against the decision could publish pronounce the others in schism, and convene on their own a Conclave, after having elected their own Dean and vice Dean etc.. And thus the minority could proceed to a legal and valid election. And since the risk that a minority chose the Pope would most certainly be against the pleasure of the majority, the only prudent thing would be for the entire College to enter into Conclave.

Nor is there any real risk to the College to enter into Conclave, because whether they want Bergoglio to be the Pope or not, they could always elect him a second time, so that henceforth he hold the Petrine Munus and there be no doubt anymore to his legitimacy.

So any failure to convene, would set up the situation I have already written about here.

Thus, it is absolutely certain that within the next 30 days will be will have a new legitimate Roman Pontiff, for even if Bergoglio would be elected again, his first pontificate was never legitimate, and he was never a Pope.

* 53. In conformity with the provisions of No. 52, the Cardinal Dean or the Cardinal who has precedence by order and seniority, will read aloud the following formula of the oath:

We, the Cardinal electors present in this election of the Supreme Pontiff promise, pledge and swear, as individuals and as a group, to observe faithfully and scrupulously the prescriptions contained in the Apostolic Constitution of the Supreme Pontiff John Paul II, Universi Dominici Gregis, published on 22 February 1996. We likewise promise, pledge and swear that whichever of us by divine disposition is elected Roman Pontiff will commit himself faithfully to carrying out the munus Petrinum of Pastor of the Universal Church and will not fail to affirm and defend strenuously the spiritual and temporal rights and the liberty of the Holy See. In a particular way, we promise and swear to observe with the greatest fidelity and with all persons, clerical or lay, secrecy regarding everything that in any way relates to the election of the Roman Pontiff and regarding what occurs in the place of the election, directly or indirectly related to the results of the voting; we promise and swear not to break this secret in any way, either during or after the election of the new Pontiff, unless explicit authorization is granted by the same Pontiff; and never to lend support or favour to any interference, opposition or any other form of intervention, whereby secular authorities of whatever order and degree or any group of people or individuals might wish to intervene in the election of the Roman Pontiff.

  1. Of course, the conclave will be filled with the vaxxed.
Is this coinciding of the rumors of “Bergoglio resigning”.

  2. Dear Br. Alexis,
Assuming a conclave is called will it not be illegimate for the case that it includes those “Cardinals” created by ++Bergolio?
    Kind Regards,

    1. If it does include such cardinals, yes. But if they do call a Conclave, I expect them to make some disposition about that.

  3. Brother, what if validly elected cardinals do not proceed according to Church canon for the election of a new pontiff within the 21 days that is determined?

  5. I also think the Church will start again at zero. When Saint Celestine V highlights a certain time of vacancy, it may mean that it is also necessary to renew the Church. That’s why Celestine speaks of a penitent, an elected hermit pope

  6. Prophecies foretold they will still elect Bergoglio.
This is to confuse people into thinking Bergoglio is a legitimate pope.

  7. As much as I hope that a conclave is called for the election of a new Pope succeeding Benedict XVI, who did not in fact renounce totally the papacy, I don’t think anything will happen.
The Dean of the Sacred College is Cardinal Re, who I always read has a very liberal reputation, so I don’t think he will do anything.
Unfortunatly, after Benedict XVI is buried, I think it will be business as usuall with Francis still unquestioned pope…..even if he has been an illegitimate Pope since his very first day.

    1. Francis completely turned me off. I was dismayed this religion, I had been born into, was being dismantled by this man. I never accepted him as the leader, didn;t believe in what he was doing and saying. Perhaps sanity will come in to play and a holy person of God will be put into place. francs has played pope long enough. time for him to take a stage right and go.

  8. whomever the candidates are that are put forward, need a deep dive investigation, follow any money trails, follow what Dr. Sutton has taught us, make sure the candidates to become the next Holy Father are spotless.

    1. you are so right. just like with politicians, we need to know who is funding them and what they stand for religion wise. I don;t want to see another pope tear our church apart and fill in with what is against God.

  9. Call me sceptical but it seems to me that no conclave will be called since the predominant understanding is that Bergoglio is the Pope. So the 21 days will elapse and it will be the Catholic people of Rome who will need to elect a new pope. But for them to do so, I assume there needs to be a sufficient number of them that recognize the situation for what it is to organize elections. This could take months or years, and once this happens either the MSM will ignore it, or they will demonize it.

    1. Most likely this will happen in the Lavender Mafia controlled Vatican.

The election will be done by the faithful, not by the faithless.

    2. the one sitting on the seat of Peter is not fit to be the leader of the Catholic Church. He was not our pope ever. Benedict was our real Pope.

  10. It is very courageous to make such a statement or prophecy (that we will have a newly elected pope within 30 days) because if there will be no conclave (and thus no newly elected pope) this website will come to an end. If we do have a newly elected pope within 30 days, I think Br. Alexis will be his private secretary… We will see…

      1. I am afraid that the cardinals (and pope Francis) will care little about your jurisprudence. But we will see.

  11. I believe that Br. Alexis knows what the proper procedure is, and what it should be, considering the fact that Pope Benedict XVI never fully abdicated/resigned all the authority of the Papacy. But the enemies of the Church, including Bergoglio and company, have twisted it all to make everyone believe that Benedict XVI quit, the papacy was vacant at the time, so they elected Bergoglio (an enemy of Benedict who the radical liberals want to put in in 2005 and failed the first time).
To me, it all seems so suspicious. First, the heretics and radicals put Bergoglio up as their candidate in 2005 against Ratzinger. To their horror, Ratzinger wins. They immediatly try to make his pontificate a living Hell for him. Finally he resigns in part. Despite that they call a new conclave, and in comes Bergoglio in 2013.
It seems almost like the heretics had it all planned. And they succeeded. Hopefully not for long.

    1. Yes, hopefully what Br. Alexis has detailed for us is indeed what will take place . Thank you Br. Alexis for all your work and keeping us informed daily.

  12. If they have done nothing to defend Pope Benedict whilst he was alive, why would they do something now? These cardinals of whom you speak, the ones who know, they have been silent all this time, do you have any indication they will suddenly gain courage? And if 21 days pass, who will lead the people of Rome to elect a new Pope? I hope I am wrong, but it seems a great suffering will be needed first. Most men will never be courageous unless the alternative is visibly and imminently worse. Barring a miracle, Bergoglio will remain and let slip the dogs of war on everyone. If you have sure information you are not sharing , that is one thing, but otherwise, this is pure hopium and it would be wise not to string people along.

  13. Some interesting quotes from prophecy: ““Toward the end of the usurper’s reign, the Pope will die and he will have for his successor a
young Pope, and it will be under him that the restoration will take place” – Abbe Souffrant.

“The schismatic shall fall into the scorn
of the Italian faithful…” By about twelve years shall the millennium have passed
when the resplendent mantle of legitimate power shall emerge from the shadows where it was
being kept by the schism. And beyond harm from the one [the usurper antipope] who is blocking
the door of salvation, for his deceitful schism shall have come to an end. And the mass of the
faithful shall attach itself to the worthy Shepherd, who shall extricate each one from error and
restore to the Church its beauty. He shall renew it.” (i.e., The Angelic Pontiff)

    1. the heretics are just dems in disguise. our to destroy what is good. I just read not long ago that Benedict was already in heaven having suffered his purgatory on earth. There was a cloistered nun who received a vision from Pope John Paul II, who had a stay in purgatory, told the nun Benedict was in heaven that Benedict suffered Purgatory on earth. JPII also stated, when asked by the nun if Benedict was Pope, he replied yes. I guess this is all part of Gods plan? Dont know what to think. The world is crazy, inside out. Prayerfully God will make this all good again.

  14. I am a ‘22 Sede, whether that lasts days, months or years is beyond my pay grade. My intuition however is that it will come to an end as the result of grass roots, covert activity in which, by the miraculous grace of God, a man with the necessary apostolic succession quietly emerges and the ripples of grace spread out over the face of the Earth. By his fruit, we will know him. This must be definitively so, since the vine of the College of Cardinals is barren of fruit. A divinely inspired counter to official channels will necessarily be fruitful in order to succeed in the face of apparently overwhelming odds. Perhaps he will take the name Sylvester, reflecting Msg Robert Hugh Benson’s end times novel “The Lord of the World”, a book which Bergoglio claims to admire.

    1. I would not be surprised if the next new Pope is a very traditional and orthodox good man who might have risen to the Cardinalate had not a heretic like Francis ignored all the good men and instead appointed many heretics like himself. I believe that Pope Francis will resign very soon, and to the surprise of many, die very shortly after that. Not many will mourn him. It will be then that the world sees how much the faithful disliked him and his agenda. But the new Pope will be a very orthodox and traditional man, young enough to tackle the wreckage of the Church caused by Bergoglio. Within less than a year of his reign, don’t be surprised if he cancels out “Traditiones Custodes”, and decrees a restoration of the Roman Rite Latin Mass, going even further than “Summorum Pontificum”. And he will issue rulings very swiftly, abrogating/cancelling all of Bergoglio’s agenda…especially his “Synodal Church” initiative.

    2. Interesting thoughts!
Your mention of “Sylvester” prompts me to point out that Pope Benedict XVI died on the very day that the TLM calendar commemorates St Sylvester, Pope and Confessor, whose two decades of papacy early in the 4th Century marked the first period of ‘peace’ in the Church after three centuries of persecution, and included the Council of Nicaea which condemned for ever the Arian heresy!

Also I recall that a certain Cardinal Ratzinger predicted, some decades ago, that the Church would dwindle & shrink until just a small faithful remnant remained, which would then consolidate before growing again…….

      Pax tecum.

  15. If they chose a new pope what do you think about Erdő Pèter?
i am Hungarian and I’ve just recently heard that many Hungarians believe that a significant change will start from Hungary according to some predictions. They also believe that the magyars are the people of the seed (mag) , descendent of Nimrod. That the Hungarian language is the most ancient language and hides a lot of knowledge. The most ancient writings were found in the old big Hungarian teritory but everything is delibaretely hidden regarding Hungarians. And that there is a delibarate destroying them due to their importance. I was shocked to hear all this and when I saw a couple of days ago that Erdō Péter might be a new pope candidate the hope rose in me. But many says he is also bad covering for pedophiles in Hungary. Since they said bad things about Benedict too, I can’t trust their real judgement.
Do you know anything about Hungarians supposed to be of importance and do you know if Erdő Péter is a good guy?
