Protonmail was created by people that worked at Cern.
I doubt that they need to give up a users information, but they always cave in. It’s a trap. Use Tutanota mail instead. Americans should also stop using Protonmail or European services, as you ruin it for the rest of us.
Don’t be too hard on ProtonMail. This sort of thing has happened before with other services, including Tutanota.
